Crosby Lodge Fine Lamb Lunch - Tuesday, May 17, 2011
Held on the 7th of May, the Fine Lamb Lunch at Crosby Lodge was an unbelivable success. The Chef created a menu which reflected the philosophy of Mallsgate Hall. Using fresh, seasonal ingredients the guests were treated to a taste sensation.

Engagement at the Fine Lamb Lunch at Crosby Lodge - Monday, May 16, 2011
Not only has Mallgate Hall's fine tasty lamb succeeded in converting two vegetarians, but at the super lunch held at Crosby Lodge on the 7th of May - a lovely couple used the occasion to get engaged!! Congratulations to you both. Mallsgate Hall and Crosby Lodge will be holding another Fine Lamb Lunch in the Autumn - I wonder if there will be a wedding this time...

A fine finish for the lambing season - Friday, May 13, 2011
Today not only marks the end of our very successful lambing season, but for us the start of Summer! To celebrate the lambing team are having a big feast tonight and a well deserved rest tomorrow!

Lambing has begun! - Thursday, April 14, 2011
The first new-born lamb arrived today. We and the rest of the ewes are basking in the unseasonable sunshine (they really prefer a bit of sleet for lambing), but it has begun. The fields have turned green almost overnight, giving a tasty new bite to our milking mothers.

In Austerity Britain, buying the very best direct from the producer is the answer to eating well and paying less. Feedback from our customers shows that they relish not only the flavour of our grass-fed meat, but the convenience and value of having it delivered to the door. It beats both the supermarket and the butcher.

Mallsgate converts Vegetarian  

Hurray!! Another vegetarian has become a (responsible) carnivore as a result of our delicious – and conscientiously reared – meat. This is not the first time! For the committed ‘ethics’ vegetarian (as opposed to those benighted individuals who ‘just don’t like it’), farming ‘the Mallsgate way’ convincingly follows Nature’s way of growing happy, healthy animals.

14th November 2010: Tups out today! - Thursday, November 25, 2010

The cycle of life continues as we put our Lleyn tups (rams) out in the fields with the ewes today. They have spent a year together in the ‘Gentleman’s Club’ and are now eager to do their duty. Six weeks’ work a year and then back to port and cigars - not a bad life, really.

12th November 2010: Organic count-down - Thursday, November 25, 2010

Today we started the second year of Organic conversion. None of our land receives herbicides or pesticides and all the land and animals are managed to rigorous Organic standards; following successful inspection by our regulators, Organic Farmers & Growers, animals born this coming spring will be able to be officially classified as Organic meat.

This year's lamb is now available; the beef sold out in 1 1/2 days, but we taking orders for next beef animal, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Unknown apples found at Mallsgate - Wednesday, October 06, 2010
In a recent survey of our two orchards, two ancient trees have been named as 'Scotch Bridget' an old, local cooker, but others have so far eluded the experts. One may be 'Nonpariel' a very ancient eater. Samples are being sent to Brogdale for identification. Under the Higher Level Stewardship programme, a new orchard of old and local varieties is being developed on the site of one shown in the 1890 OS.
